If you like off-the-beaten track places, Cao Bang is the place to go! Lin is the owner of Green Rider House and is fluent in English. You can rent a good motorbike (they provide luggage storage, raincoats and everything to strap your bag to the motorbike) with the hostel and be aware to plan enough time there.. It is so beautiful in the area, you'll probably want to extend! Which I did and via WhatsApp Lin responded quickly to help me arrange everything (homestay along the road/busticket etc). Absolutely one of the highlights of my trip in Vietnam!

You might wonder why all ratings of this hostel are top-notch, but once you're there you'll understand it. The host Lin is a lovely, open-minded person who makes you feel to be part of her family during your stay. She provides very helpful travel information for Cao Bang and can organize the so far most authentic homestays along the Cao Bang loop I've experienced. Thanks for everything Lin!

The best homestay of our entire trip in Vietnam! Such a great, warm and helpful host & staff. The accommodation is really nice and tidy. Motorbikes were in perfect condition too. After our 2-day roadtrip (non-organised) we had a lot of questions about the area and things we saw. Lin was happy to answer them and told a lot of interesting backstories about Cao Bang and the people! Highly recommended!

Hands down one of my best experiences in Vietnam. Hostel has: spacious clean dorm with comfy warm beds. Clean bathroom with hot shower. Delicious dinner! Amazingly friendly and helpful host! I 100% recommend the motorbike rental too. Rented one for 7 days that did not have a single problem along the way. They stayed in touch on WhatsApp, always checking on me and answering all my doubts and giving tips. I was able to drop it in Ha Giang which was super convenient. The highlight was Lin, who spent over an hour with a map helping me plan my itinerary, giving me all the good tips and recommendations, indicating the nicest roads. The whole team was friendly and very attentive tbh. I did not feel pressured into buying any of their services, on the contrary! I was going to come back for a night but she even suggested to stay in another location to make my itinerary better. They also offered some major discounts without me even asking. Food & drinks: A family dinner is available and delicious! Vegetarian options, huge quantities!

I had an exceptional experience at Green Riders Hostel. The guys made me feel completely at home during my stay, which I truly valued. The beds were comfortable, the showers were hot, and the added bonus of a delicious breakfast made each morning even better. One highlight was the two-day tour with Quan, where I got to explore stunning waterfalls and valleys—I highly recommend it. Saying goodbye to this place was tough; I'm already looking forward to the possibility of returning one day.

I did the two day tour and slept near Ban Gioc waterfalls. I travel a lot and this is by far the best ride I have done! Lin was an amazing guide and a really good driver. Everything was perfect!

A highlight of my entire trip This was the best hostel I've stayed at in Vietnam. The staff are amazing, lin went above abd beyond. Calling me to make sure I was fully informed, texting abd checking up on me and ensuring u had a good day, she felt like a dear friend. We stayed at the hostel and spent great time with the staff chilling and listening to music. He let us try some of his food and played his music too. It was great. The beds blew my mind comfy, curtains, duvet and a big round cushion plus curtains. Sorely needed after did rough sleeps and before a long drive. The rooms are huge, it's a great space to hang out in The bike was great, full gear; good helmets, knee, elbow, rain suit and 1l of petrol to start. I felt very well looked after and had the most amazing drive She booked my bus which is not online anywhere (cao bang to haiphong) also.

If you want to explore the beautiful Cao Bang region this is the place to go! We rented a motorbike to do a 3-day tour in this area. Lin sat down with us to give us a lot of insider tips to make the adventure even more memorable. She also really takes the time to suit all your needs and preferences. The hospitality we received is unmatched. She let us sleep for a few hours after arriving early in the morning with the night bus. We really loved the warm and welcoming atmosphere she created. The bike and helmets were best we had in Vietnam. All in all just the perfect service!

Lin is amazing! She is very professional and wants everyone to have an amazing experience with her tours and in her guesthouse! She has perfect English and she's very kind. I did a day tour with one of her drivers and felt safe all the time, he was a very good driver and very professional and nice. Gave me lots of informations about the North of Vietnam. Didn't sleep there but rented a motorbike for a week with them and definitely the best place to rent one, the bike was brand new and the staff is super nice and very transparent in the deal. They don't take your passport like most of other rentals and that make you feel better knowing you will ride really near Chinese border. They give good advice and are really helpful. Green riders is one of the best hostels I have ever been to. Great value for money, lovely breakfast and all their staff go above and beyond to make your stay one to remember. The manager Lin is super helpful and customised a 2-day riding tour for us. I chose the easy rider option and my brother opted to self drive. My easy rider driver was Chuyên, who is laid back, nice to have a laugh with, and a safe pair of hands. We also had help with buses from Huong on front desk who couldn’t do more for you. In summary, Lin and co provide motorbike tours which are stunning and offer a less touristy alternative to the Ha Giang loop. Cao bang is by far our favourite part of the trip and arguably one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever been to. Until next time!
